Welcome to my first blog post ever! I figured this would be a good place to start because I have had some exciting things happen this year and moving was one of them! I’ll give a quick rundown of the process and link all of the home items the best I can along the way. Some items are sold out so I will link similar items – hope this helps!
Long story short, my lease was up after summer and I knew I had wanted to move into something a bit bigger and more private because I was living in a 650 square foot apartment and quickly outgrew the space. Given that this was my first apartment in Orange County, I soon learned what my must-haves would be for my next place. Initially, I wanted my next place to be beachfront because I thought to myself, “When will I ever get the chance to live on the beach again in my lifetime?” I was really set on it, but I couldn’t find anything that would work space-wise for Chase and I within my budget and timing of the move. It just wasn’t meant to be for me at the time but I’m sure I will end up on the beach at some point in life. It’s a dream of mine (:
I continued to search high and low each day for about a month until I found my current place. I found it on either zillow or hot pads – I can’t remember exactly which app it was because I was checking multiple apps and platforms daily. I called the listing agent within minutes of it going live, saw it the following day, and applied that same evening. This was the first place that I submitted an application to and I was approved almost immediately. I definitely lucked out here. I got the keys a week later and my incredible friends helped me move in! Side note – I will hire movers in the future so that I don’t have to put my friends through that again, even though they went above and beyond for me. I tend to like to do things myself but next time I will hire movers. Oops.
Some things that were important to me when I was looking for a place were having a yard/space for Chase, a parking spot, laundry, and I absolutely did not want to live on the bottom floor. I ended up with the upper unit in a duplex with all of those accommodations, plus a driveway and a garage. I also have a bit more square footage now, which makes it convenient to have a room designated to work, film try-on hauls, etc.
I got all of my belongings put away within two weeks – I was hoping to have it finished in one week but it was nearly impossible. You really don’t know how much stuff you have until you move and it’s all laid out all over the place. I donated a lot of items, gave a lot away to friends and family, and ordered some new goodies! My decor pretty much stayed the same from my old place to this place, however, I definitely have more of a minimalist thing going on for me here.

It is overpriced so I ended up using the insert from the dog bed I currently have and just purchasing the cover. You can also buy a cheap dog bed from T.J. Maxx/HomeGoods and then use the insert from one of those. Another alternative I’ve seen people do is buy poly-fil to put inside the cover. There are a lot of options for the insert!
